Please join me to honor my father’s 100th birthday to support the late Mohawk elder, Tekaroniaken Jake Swamp’s vision of healing for indigenous peoples. I will have for sale my most recent sculptures and paintings, a group called Sacred Earth.

Rekindling the Fire is a gathering of Indigenous Leaders in 2012 from the whole of the Americas. The gathering will take place on the banks of the Mississippi River in prayers of hope, love and healing so that we may return to our communities bringing a commitment to rekindle the path of our ancestors.” (Vickie Downey)

Vickie Downey is a member of the Traditional Circle of Indian Elders andYouth. The annual Council of the Traditional Circle constitutes the continuation of knowledge from traditional leaders to the younger generations.

Vijali Hamilton has dedicated her life as a peacemaker. She collaborates with diversified communities and utilizes her skills as a sculptor, filmmaker, poet, musician, and author to further this mission. Vijali started her World Wheel Project in 1986 circling the planet as she works with the arts in her quest for world peace.

2010


From August 2009 til May 2010, Vijali studied at Institute of American Indian Arts in Santa Fe, New Mexico, USA.

Vijali went to Australia on 30 May – 16 July escorted by Indigie Femme. They are concentrated on going into remote and regional areas in Queensland and Northern Territory.

Vijali also conducted a Ocean Rainbow Spiral Prayer for the waters around Magnetic Island, worked in several remote Aboriginal communities, went into detention centers, as well as shared her short film, ‘One Woman’s Quest for World Peace.’
